Riverlea Connected
Wales's largest agricultural supplier has completed a major upgrade of their communications systems thanks to a local internet broadband company.
Riverlea is a main dealer for major manufactures of farm machinery and relies on good communications between their suppliers and three depots in Whitland, Crymych and Cowbridge to keep up with customer demand.
Their existing system had been in place for several decades and was creaking heavily under the strain – computers were very slow and crashing daily when they tried to download data.
The superfast Cymru high speed internet was showing no signs of arriving in their area, so they turned to Carmarthen based Bluewave Internet for help.
Bluewave Internet offers an alternative to the traditional phone line dependent broadband by installing a small transmitter in the local area which broadcasts a wireless signal much like a mobile phone network.
Bluewave set up their mobile mast for a trial and the end of the period Riverlea were sold on the service and immediately signed up. The Bluewave team installed a permanent mast at the Whitland Riverlea Depot to pick up the signal from a main transmitter. Riverlea now have a minimum of 20mbps of upload and download speed – a superfast connection which provides a platform for their two satellite depots to have a constant connection back to Crymych for their business management software and email communications.
Nicola Jones, director of Riverlea, said: As IT plays a crucial part in our day to day running of the business, we made a major decision to progress and move forward with our IT requirements. In doing so, we turned to Bluewave who showed a high level of commitment, knowledge and understanding of our business. Guiding us to an innovative way of providing high speed and stability for our internet connection, which is paramount linking our computer systems in all of our other branches throughout South and West Wales.
Nicola added: “They have continued to support our business through the transitional period and post installation, working hand in hand with our own internal IT department. Their up to date knowledge of systems and equipment prove they are certainly going places and will continue to grow – ones to watch for the future”.
